Let’s get in touch!
Don’t let this dog fool you— I am actually a crazy cat lady. Also, I’m not a model, but I did pose for EverString in this photograph. Way to throw you all off, I know.
Hello, and welcome to my website. This is the part where I’m supposed to brag about myself so that you will want to hire me, right? Okay, um, I’m terrible at doing that. So I asked a writer friend to fill this out for me… but she apparently had more important things to do. So here we are.
Let’s see. I’ve been an artist all my life, blah blah blah… I have always been good at drawing and painting, yadda yadda yadda. I was a typical artist who drew portraits in class instead of taking notes but still did pretty well in school, the usual.
I went to Hickey College for a diploma in Graphic Design. I know it’s not a 4-year degree ya’ll, but I’m so good that I don’t need one. No, really. I have the experience to back me up. Instead of sitting in class learning about stuff that wouldn’t apply to my career, I went to an intense Graphic Design program 8 hours a day to prepare me for the workforce. Even during the summer. It was rough but worth it.
Right after I graduated, I landed a pre-press job at Optima Graphics, where I learned the boring stuff but, ya know, it’s important to know it still. I got promoted at Optima to be an Event Designer because they noticed how awesome I was at designing and how bored I was with pre-pressin’.
Then, I worked for the St. Louis Business Journal for 5 ½ years. I had to wear fancy clothes to that job. No converse high tops allowed. So, that was rough. But I gained a ton of good experience during my time there. And, I actually got to do some creative things for a newspaper, weird right? Newspapers exist?! While I was there, I won some awards. Two honorable mentions in the 2011 Missouri Press Association for page layout, 3rd place in the 2012 Missouri Press Association for Best Photo Illustration, 2nd place, an honorable mention in the 2014 Missouri Press Association for Best Photo Illustration and for Best Information Graphic, 2nd place in the 2015 Missouri Press Association for Best Information Graphic and honorable mention for best information graphic. (Nope, I didn’t memorize all of that, I had to ⌘P).
Okay, so… where was I? Oh right.. then, I was hired to be a Senior Designer at SCORCH. I design for big clients like Microsoft and LinkedIn, which can be really rewarding. There was a day where all the illustrators sat around drawing robots for a client, no joke. I got paid to draw robots. Occasionally, I art direct and shoot photos when I can’t find the right stock image for a project I’m working on. Stock images are so cheesy, amirite? So now, I really like taking pictures. And, as I mentioned earlier, I model for clients on occasion too. Well, when they specifically ask for a photo describing a person who looks like me, which has happened twice now and probably never again. So I guess you can add photographer and model to my list of accomplishments. Speaking of accomplishments, a cover that I designed for Microsoft was nominated for Best Digital Cover in the Content Marketing Awards. The winner is pending, and I know you’re all sitting on the edge of your seat with anticipation to see who wins. I’ll be sure to update this so you know. As promised, I’m back here to update, and guess what? I won first place. Haaay.
So then, I was hired as the Art Director in the St. Louis office for OutFront Media, who specializes in OOH (Billboards). I utilize my skills of thinking outside the box, within a box. Except when I can talk clients into building extensions outside the box. I’ve said box too many times. This job is very challenging and rewarding. There are so many ways of using OOH and a whole market unaware of everything that can be done.
Well, that about sums up my professional life. I guess as far as my personal life goes, I have 2 cats that are* the cutest cats in the world. I’m a Cardinal’s fan for life. Represent. I enjoy drawing portraits, and I usually do digital portraits nowadays. It’s really fun. I really love doing yoga and riding my bike. I surfed once in Hawaii, but I fell on the board and have a scar on my knee to this day, so I don’t think I’m cut out for that. My favorite artist is Banksy. I love street art. Pizza is the bee’s knees. Madonna is my favorite singer ever. I also love EDM. And 90s grunge. Random, I know.
Okay, so there’s a long-ish? summary of myself. Probably more than you wanted to know. Thanks for checking out my site, feel free to email me or connect on LinkedIn with any additional questions.
